Summary: Thirty-something architect David leads a complicated life. His cleaning lady, Eva, is an illegal immigrant from Slovenia, keen on marrying him so that she can stay in Britain; his lodger, Ethan, is an off-centre, vague American working as a personal trainer; his close friend and next-door neighbour Lord Peter is a scatty hereditary peer who has lost his seat in the House of Lords; and his sarcastic ex-wife Sian - with whom he has fathered Josh, a possibly gay son - is David's boss and the owner of his drinking haunt, the Club Biscuit.
