Full Show Summary: Castle a comedy drama television series premiered on ABC in March of 2009. Richard Edgar “Rick” Castle played by Nathan Fillion is a bestselling mystery writer. Castle, a two time divorcee, lives with his mother, Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan) and teen-aged daughter, Alexis Castle (Molly Quinn). After killing off his popular lead character, Derrick Storm, Castle experiences a bad case of writer’s block. During this time Castle is brought in for questioning by the NYPD, concerning a copy-cat murder that was committed based off of one of his novels. Castle becomes intrigued by this new perspective of the crime and murder world. He uses his connection with the Mayor and begins to shadow NYPD Homicide Detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic. Kate is a top notch investigator who is often fascinated by unusual cases. Following the murder of Kate’s mother, the case remaining unsolved, Kate joins the NYPD force. Kate is a fan and avid reader of Castle’s novels however, she is initially cold towards Castle and unhappy about him shadowing her. After some time, she begins to warm up to him and finds Castle to be a useful resource in the investigation. During the course of shadowing Kate, Castle becomes charmed by her and is inspired to create a new series of novels, with a new main character named Nikki Heat. This new main character is obviously based off of Kate and holds many of the same characteristics and qualities as the detective. Captain Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson) is Kate’s boss, although he recognizes her resoluteness and persistent work Montgomery keeps a close eye on investigations to make sure they go smoothly. Among Kate’s team of detectives you will find Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Detective Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas), although both are protective of Kate they enjoy to teasing her as well.
