Full Show Summary: Community first aired on September 19, 2009 on NBC. The story follows a group of friends going to a community college in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado. The show centers on suspended lawyer Jeff who was a practicing lawyer with no bachelor’s degree. When he is found out, he is forced to attend the local community college. Instead of pursuing a degree, he decides to pursue a certain student named Brita inviting her to a Spanish study group that is a cover for trying to seduce her. She in turn invites a few other students to thwart his plans. What started out as a seduction attempt ends up being a real study group comprised of an out of work lawyer, a millionaire, A single mom, a used to be quarter back, a former drug addict, and a film student. The fun begins as these totally different people form a bond and try to study at the same time. The group comes from different economic backgrounds, have different perspectives on life, and different problems to deal with. The ring leader of the bunch seems to be Jeff Winger, the suspended lawyer with Brita Perry running a close second. Brita is a former political activist that is trying to get her life back on track. Abed Nadir is a film student with a head full of knowledge about movies and TV. He seems to be delusional at times, and the group worries about him a bit. Shirley Bennett is the “mother” in the group, being a single mom herself; she uses this to her advantage quite often. Annie Edison is the youngest of the study group and is an overachiever, who can’t go to an Ivy League college because of a former drug addiction to Adderall. Troy Barnes is a former football star who started out just wanting to be cool; his friendship with the rest of the group has brought out his nerdy side however. Last but not least is Pierce Hawthorne the bored millionaire who decided to go back to college and fell in with the study group. Together these mismatched students make up a community and friendships have been formed.
