Summary: The sequel to Second Thoughts Faith has split up with Bill, her children have finally left home, and she's even off-loaded her loyal dog. The net result, much sought after, is that Faith is free and footloose for the first time since she was a teenager, with her own flat and a job as an adult education art teacher. The liberty is short-lived, though, because daughter Hannah returns from the around-the-world trip she started at the end of Second Thoughts, and moves back in, cramping Faith's new relationship with college colleague Paul, as if her menopausal mood swings were not already causing problems enough. As Faith battles with her weight, the change of life, her feelings for Paul and the return of her daughter, life takes on its customary chaotic turn. She and Paul eventually find their way into bed, only to discover that their conversations carry more spark than their carnal desires. Hannah, meanwhile, is being pursued by Jools, who stands little hope of capturing her heart but is relentless in the chase. Hannah says she wants to move out of Faith's flat but seems destined to remain with Mum, carrying on their tempestuous relationship for ever.
