|Full Show Summary: Hung is a sexual comedy whose title gives us an idea of the plot - Ray Drecker is a former high school star athlete who now makes a living as a coach. But when his wife decides to divorce him, he finds himself in serious economic trouble. Struggling for ideas, he has a moment of revelation - why not take advantage of his “biggest asset”? Thus, he’ll start working as a gigolo, a totally new lifestyle for him. Fortunately he’ll have the help of Tanya, a female acquaintace who, after having an affaire with him, will surprisingly offer herself to be his pimp, locating fitting clients. Although during his first days at the job Ray feels uneasy, things will gradually work out, and he’ll even start enjoying it. Despite the sexual nature of his new profession, Ray is not a cold-hearted guy, and through the course of his jobs he’ll experience a number of feelings towards the women the meets. Though the action takes place in Detroit, the show has several points in common with Californication, like the divorce plotline. Of course, it also features many sex scenes, some of them quite explicit. The scripts work well, with numerous hilarious moments, and the cast does a very good job. One performer that particularly stands out is Jamie Clayton, one of the first transgendered actresses to be featured in a mainstream TV show. Also, movie fans will recognize Anne Heche, who plays Roy’s ex-wife. But probably the best performance is that of Jane Adams, in the role of Tanya, the tender woman who works as Ray’s pimp but probably feels something more. Being an HBO show, production values are very good, rounding out a pleasurable viewing experience for an adult audience.|
