Full Show Summary: We usually take for granted the civilized comforts of a roof over our heads, electricity and a ready food supply. We don’t really need to think much about how to provide and/or obtain these things beyond paying for them. What if, however, all of that comfort was taken away, and it came down to living or dying in an indifferent wilderness that has no concern over the survival of one human being? What should you do? What could you do? In “Man vs Wild”, survival expert Bear Grylls shows us what to do to stay alive in harsh environments, how to find food, how to find or make shelter, and how to get yourself back to civilization. In each episode of “Man vs. Wild”, Bear Grylls finds himself stranded in a different remote spot somewhere on the globe, facing different hardships and difficulties in the form of uncomfortable climates, hazardous terrain or wild animals that do not take kindly to his incursion. His attempts to keep himself alive and well are video taped and he narrates his actions for the edification of the viewer so that, if they ever find themselves in a similar situation, they will know what to do. Other possible scenarios are simulated, with Grylls demonstrating the best thing to do in cases of a bear attack or other potential catastrophe. Bear Grylls shows viewers how he identifies safe plants and other foods, scales cliffs, orients himself to prevent from getting lost, and how to get by on extremely limited resources. Sometimes even an expert such as Grylls doesn’t always encounter good luck, and he gets sick from contaminated water or builds boats that sink. What counts though is that he doesn’t give up and eventually gets through, and ultimately shows how to win out over nature and get back home in one piece.
