Full Episode Summary: Eric Feeble is a 40-year-old single parent struggling to raise two children with their own peculiar problems. His son Brian never speaks, instead using his mouth as a receptacle for anything he can fit into it, from toy cars to hair dryers. His daughter Claire is hyper-allergic and her tongue swells dangerously if she eats anything even slightly tasty. Eric's wife has left him to pursue a new-age life of self exploration, or, as she puts it, 'to swim in the lake that is me'. To help him bring up the kids, Eric has a Portuguese au pair, Maria, but she is a nightmare, suffering from eating and drinking disorders, hanging out with a bad crowd and generally behaving irresponsibly. In the long run she requires more nurturing than the children. This sort of life would stress anyone but Eric is particularly sensitive to pressure and his situation isn't helped by the presence next door of the Perfect family, whose life is so faultless that it make Eric's situation seem even more deplorable. Work is no better - Eric frequently clashes with his aggressive boss, PP, who is never slow to point out Eric's shortcomings and cast doubts upon his continued employment. All this increases Eric's stress level, which manifests itself as a bulging, throbbing, vein on his temple. At moments of extreme stress it grows out of his head and coils itself around his throat, strangling him.
