Full Show Summary: Professional football players and coaches will usually do whatever they have to do, within the rules, in order to win their games. The characters in “The League” are just as dedicated to and obsessed with winning, but since they play Fantasy Football, they can be considerably less scrupulous, and are certainly willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top. The main characters are all part of a Fantasy Football league, but their friendship does not prevent them from using deception and other underhanded tactics in order to win. “The League” is also semi-improvised, making a lot of the humor spontaneous. Peter Eckhart is on office employee who is so dedicated to the Fantasy Football league that he allows his marriage to end because of it. His main tactic is to trick his friends into making detrimental trades with their teams. Kevin MacArthur is a district attorney who acts the league commissioner, although it is obvious to everyone that his wife knows more about football than he does. Kevin’s younger brother Taco, a hazy-minded musician, is considerably less successful than his brother and also knows even less about football, but that doesn’t stop him from taking part in the league and trying his best. Rodney Ruxin is a product-liability attorney with a cutthroat playing method. Doctor Andre Nowzick is a plastic surgeon who isn’t nearly as cool as he thinks he is. “The League” features notable guest stars both in the form of other actors and also professional NFL players and football analysts and commentators. The humor comes from both the fantasy football-related activities of the league’s members and also the issues that crop up in their personal lives. There is certainly more to life than football, but try telling that to the members of “The League”.
