Full Show Summary: The premise of Zoey 101 is simple but clever: The action takes place at Pacific Coast Academy, a boarding school that has traditionally only accepted boys. When they change their politics and start admitting girls, Zooey Brooks will be one the firsts to enter, soon discovering that femenine presence is not going to be easily accepted by the guys. Though boys heavily outnumber girls in the school, they fairer sex won’t be easily intimidated, and a hliarious rivalry will ensue. Besides fighting for her rights, Zooey will also have to defend her little brother, who also attends the school. Zoey 101 is part of the roster of teenage comedies produced by Nickelodeon in recent years, and its target demographic is the same of shows like Hannah Montana or iCarly. It features a cast of quite likeable teenage actors, headed by Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of the famous pop singer Britney Spears. Jamie Lynn proves to have some talent of her own and good chemistry with the rest of the actors, though after the end of the show she became a mother in real life and didn’t pursue an acting career. The casti also includes names like the pretty Victoria Justice, who now stars in her own show, and Erin Sanders, who went on to other Nickeolodeon productions. The scripts work reasonably, well and the show offers good entertainment for its 65 episodes. Some viewers have complained about lack of realism and Zooey being a spoiled, egocentric character. It’s true that the show doesn’t go for realism, but that’s not specially important in this kind of story, and while Zooey is something of a princess, she’s meant to be that way. All in all, a nice little teen show.
