Amanda Drew Biography

Wiki Biography: Amanda Drew was born on 21st December 1969 in Boston, Lincolnshire. Her mother was a nurse, and Amanda was one of four children. Amanda first got the taste of Drama when she was 6, where she played a flower in a play based on Oscar Wilde. Although she had always been shy, it was here that she enjoyed the creativity and the protective coat of playing someone else. She was educated at Beauchamp College in Oadby when her parents had to move to Leicestershire for work. She then joined a youth theatre group, where she played "Charity" in "Sweet Charity". Amanda graduated from R.A.D.A [Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art] in 1992, and made her name at the Royal Court Theatre and in other West End Productions. She then joined the R.S.C [Royal Shakespeare Comapny] in 2001. Amanda is probably best known for her role as "Dr. 'Mad' May Wright" in "EastEnders" (1985). She was involved in the love triangle between herself, her husband Rob, and Dawn. This was one of the biggest story lines of the year. Amanda has also appeared in various other TV shows with minor roles, such as "Holby Blue" (2007), and also appeared as a mum in a Vicks advert, where she embarrasses her son by throwing herself to the ground in a tantrum. She has also appeared in a variety of short films. Proven a brilliant stage actress, she was also nominated for Outstanding Newcomer in 2003 at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards for her performance in "Eastward Ho!" at the Gielgud Theatre. She lives with her greyhound Ron, who she adopted from the Retired Greyhound Trust in 2007.
