One Piece was soon animated by Toei Animation, and started airing on the Japanese TV network Fuji TV on October 20, 1999. From episode 207 and on, One Piece has been simulcast (simultaneously broadcasted) in both HDTV and Standard Definition. Starting with episode 279, One Piece began airing at a different timeslot, which varied from region to region in Japan. For the purposes of this guide, the early morning Sunday timeslot will be used, so the day the episode airs does not change. One Piece has reached 400 episodes on May 10, 2009. There are currently nine movies, with a tenth set for a Spring 2009 release, and ten TV Specials. In Japan, One Piece is very popular: after the 60th tankobona it was announced that total sales volumes of One Piece have reached 200 million copies. One Piece has become the best selling manga in the world, far ahead already completed "Pearl of the Dragon" and the longest manga Kochikame (out of more than 35 years). The first edition of 61 volumes of One Piece was 3.8 million copies - the largest first printing of the manga in Japan (and worldwide). Also, the sale of One Piece have reached 100 million faster than any other manga. According to recent reports in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 best-selling manga was One Piece, far ahead of the competition.
