MacKenzie Porter Biography

Wiki Biography: MacKenzie was raised on a fifth generation cattle and bison ranch just outside of Medicine Hat, Alberta. At the young age of four she started studying piano, violin, and voice. MacKenzie toured for a number of years with a family band including her brother Kalan Porter (2004 winner of Canadian Idol), her sister, and her two cousins. In addition, MacKenzie has performed as a solo violinist and was a member of a chamber quartet. Mackenzie also has a strong passion for dancing and singing, winning numerous awards at the provincial level. At the age of sixteen, MacKenzie booked a part as a series regular on Discovery Channel's Dinosapien. Since then her credits include numerous feature films, television series, and "made for TV" movies. She has worked with such names as Patrick Swayze, Carmen Electra, Michael Madsen, Jason Priestley, Kim Coates, August Schellenberg, Kim Delaney, Esai Morales and many more. This past year, MacKenzie was awarded "Best Actress in Alberta" for her work on "The Other Woman" at the AMPIA awards. MacKenzie was just named "Top 11 to watch for in 2011" in the Vancouver TV Magazine. Over the last couple months MacKenzie has been filming on the sets of Supernatural, Endgame, The Haunting Hour, a Hallmark movie of the week, and a Lifetime movie of the week called Seattle Superstorm. When MacKenzie is not busy acting she is writing and performing with band mate Andrew Jenkins in their group The Black Boots or working on her solo debut album. MacKenzie has recently opened for the Canadian Tenors, Beverley Mahood, Trooper, Kalan Porter, and shared the stage with One More Girl, Ridley Bent, The Higgens, AJ Woodworth and many others. She just preformed at the 2010 BCCMA awards in the emerging new artist category. The Black Boots recently preformed for the Prime Minister of Canada and the First Lady of Canada at a "Veterans of the War" Fundraiser. MacKenzie's favorite moment on stage was when Gene Simmons came up out of the crowd and asked her to sing for him.
