Wiki Biography: Marie Josephine Zoumanigui, is originally from the West Coast of Africa in Conakry, Guinea. Her time was spent enjoying watching Bollywood movies on television, despite the language barrier and imitating her favorite African singers.At the tender age of 8, Marie and her family relocated to New York in 1997. The first memorable performance the young Marie watched was Kate Winslet's performance in Titanic. Later, it was "The Truman Show", which she watched at the movie theatre. These two movies played an influential role in Marie becoming inspired to pursue a dream of being an actress.Marie has played acting roles in several films that have received recognition. Her debut film was in 2005, when she played a role in a short film called "Apple's Cherry". "Apple's Cherry" was premiered at the Visionfest Film Festival that year. The following year, the movie had achieved moderate success when it was selected as one of the narrative shorts at the 2006 South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX. In 2007, Marie took on another role in her second short film, called "Look Alive Mr. Kline". This movie was featured at the Atlanta Film Festival and The Bend Film Festival. In 2012, Marie played perhaps her biggest role to date, in the movie "Maffe Tiga"."Maffe Tiga" was featured in several film festivals worldwide, including, but not limited to, the Black Harvest Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, 7th edition of the Kenya International Film Festival in Kenya and The African American Women in Cinema Film Festival in New York. "Maffe Tiga" was then nominated for the best short film at the African Movie Acadamy Awards in Nigeria. "Maffe Tiga" was signed to be distributed by Snag Films and is due for screening at the 21st Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles in February 2013.
